Ok so I worked on this tractor all day with no good end result. Still have starter grounding out some how. I checked to make sure starter wasn't stuck on flywheel by rocking back and forth while in gear. Unbolted starter and actually took it apart to make sure nothing was grounding out that shouldn't be. Brushes were a pain getting back were needed to be. Everything seems to be ok with starter. Put it back together and same issue. Entire starter is grounded........even terminal post lead. Kinda is a problem when silenoid is positive from battery on 1 side and negative from starter on the other. Push starter button and melt down.............I am lost and can't figure out why terminal on starter is grounded out. Their is an insulator around terminal and it seems ok and stud is not making contact with case, but brushes are screwed to case and appear to be connected with windings around the magnets. Last statement is an uneducated guess. If anyone has any ideas I would welcome any ideas at this point..........Thanks, Jamey
Tractor was running fine when it was positive ground but wasn't charging, so I rewired..........see yesterdays post for more.
