2N embarrased red tractor yesterday

Tried hoggin' a flat 2.5 acre pasture with my International 340 over the weekend and had nothing but trouble. The grass was over 4' tall (LOTS of rain out here) and the tractor just kept bogging down, then it popped a radiator hose (fixed that), got a stuck thermostat (fixed that) and finally developed a hole in the radiator (grrrr!). Put the hog on my freshly overhauled 2N and finished in record time. Ran in 2nd gear and never bogged. I was even able to take full 5' bites with the mower. The little gray wonder never even broke a sweat. :)

The magic that Henry put in there is still going strong.

yep.. those n seem to like to hog.. I hogged some stuff down that was as tall as me.. and still took 5' cute. took max throttle onthe 52 8n.. but it maintained pto rpm.. etc..

Tes:
I hogged my hilly back field the other day with my '49 8N and 5' hog - orchard grass taller than the hood, just like wire - and she just kept a poundin' away. I did have to go into low in several places with lots of throttle, but old Bessie got the job done. Probably would've gone a bit easier had I sharpened up the blades with the side grinder before I started.
