Not from the factory. All kinds of weird conversions have been done in the aftermarket and by shadetree mechanics. Matt1 posted a pic below of a tricycle 8N conversion.

I'm not aware of any diesel conversion kits offered, but that doesn't mean someone couldn't have pulled it off. Just ask Marvin Baumann. I wouldn't be surprised if someday he doesn't build a Cummins turbo diesel 8N.

Here's another point: Many people who are not familiar with Ford tractors will call any red and gray Ford an 8N.....even if it's a tricycle 901 with a factory diesel engine. Ford did make tricycle tractors with diesel engines, but the first Ford tricycle didn't leave the factory until late 1954 (as a 1955 model) and the first Ford diesel tractor didn't appear until the 1958 model year. Fordson (English made Fords) may have had an available diesel engine earlier than that, but I'm not clear on that.

Please check the 2N hi-crop conversion on our web pics, this is a machine shop conversion, I am working on a diesel conversion for the N series at this time, thanks for letting me put in a word or two, I enjoy this forum and you folks on it so much, I would rather enjoy the useful tips that you folks all have, than get on line, your info has helped us out many times, on tractors with problems we don't have the answer for, thanks again to YT forum and all of you who make it what it is. Coupla years ago I was brousing a local tractor/implement yard. Mostly Massey stuff as it was a Massey dealership. Right there in the middle of about 50 new tractors, sat what looked to be a brand new N tractor. I'd say around 40hp Deisel with all the bells and whistles. I really wanted more info on it but could feel myself being drawn toward a purchase so I left.

No diesel 8N's, or factory tricycles. There were conversion kits to place a single front wheel, and to allow 38" rear tires; I understand mainly for applications in the southern US. These kits, however, were not offered by Ford, to my knowledge, but by an aftermarket company. I don't know about the Fergusons.

No diesel 8Ns. No narrow front end 8Ns from the factory, but there was an aftermarket kit that was available.
