I am staring a garden which is my first attempt at it. I've never even used a plow and I'm looking for some good advice. Where can I find some good information on plowing techniques, using disc's and cultivators.

I've owned my 49' 8N for about three years now and use it for hoggin', maintaining a gravel drive, and just messing around in general. I really love this old machine. I have access to all the gardening equipment listed above and thought I would try my hand at a small garden.

Thanks for the help.

Lindsay:

There are also a number of vintage & new manuals & booklets that come up on ebay quite often. There's a "Plow Book" from the early 40's put out by Ford-Ferguson, manuals for the implements published by Dearborn(for Ford) & by Ferguson or Massey Ferguson.

They all have some pretty good setup & use instruction.

Jeff

Zane wrote a long time ago about the proper step to set up a plow. It should be in the archives. Sorry but I do not recall what the title was. I've aslo heard that the N owners manual has a plow setup as well. Good luck....don t. ....

I did not find the original version of Zane"s instructions. However, I found a link to the highlights as posted by Dell.

Don't know about the use of equipment source unless you can find some old owners manuals. I would advise to spray the whole area with round-up and kill everything before you till it. This is especially important if you have an area with grass in it. Keeps from fighting the grass coming back up all year long.
