If you park it with gas left on you may find all your gas in the crank case. The seat has a gasket between it and the carb body.I find gasket missing or seat loose many times.A tiny bit of dirt, grass or hair can get thru the screens and make a good valve leak.Buy a bowl gasket and seat gasket and check it before buying a kit.Carbs are best left alone, most diddled with part on a tractor next to ignition.

Hobo, Thanks you left me quite a post on the carb and it really helped. With all your info I was able to better trouble shoot the cause of my problem and get it set. My idle circuit was never going to be right since the last person used the wrong jet for the idle jet and I could never get the mixture to be rich. cleaned it once more got everything right and it's running better than ever!!! Thanks
Dan

I'd check the float to make sure it's not filling up with gas and if it's OK replace the needle and seat.
Good Luck, Lee
