I'm looking at a Dearborn 2-14 plow and I notice it has the bracket sticking out the back of the rear mouldboard, but no "wheel" on it. What is that part called and do I need it to plow garden and food plots on my acreage?
How much would you give for a 2-14 in good condition other than said missing part?
Thanks all!

A tail wheel on a flat bottom plow is useless ! You ever see a tail wheel on a mule or horse drawn plow????? NO!

The plow will actually work better with that thing lost.

John-
What Dearborn Model do you have? Is it a 10-1 or a 10-156 later model? I have a furrow wheel for the Dearborn plow if you need. You won't find one at TSC as parts like that are not made anymore. Usually you plow much better with it than without but for a small food plot or garden you may get by without-it'll just track all over. As far as resale value, it al depends on overall condition. Does it have good mouldboards, shares, landsides, coulters, jointers, rolling landside (furrow wheel), and ocrossshaft adjustment. Also depends on area where you are. Email me if interested in the wheel.

Tim,
Thanks for the reply, please contact me by email.
I tried to find your email here, but it must be blocked. I don't have mine hidden here on this reply.
I am interested in picking your brain as well as maybe interested in the wheel.
I haven't purchased this plow yet, but I will likely get it this weekend.
I'm in SE Iowa and I know it's a later model Dearborn, everything else looks good (as far as my untrained eye can see) they are asking $225, which is about as reasonable as I've seen around here.
Thanks again to all you guys for replying.
John

Hello Mr. Daley:
What do you charge for the Dearborn plow operating manual? Can you e-mail it as an attachment?
Thanks
JD

In my Ferguson Plow Book, The part you speak of is simply listed as "Furrow wheel" along with "wheel spring" "wheel axle" and "wheel scraper" to complete the assembly...Tim

Yes you can plow without. I have used them both ways and found little difference.

Value is $150 - $300 depending on area you live in.

I think your looking at the bracket for the rolling landside. There"s a pic and description in the 8N Operators manual but I really don"t know anything about plows.
You can call TSC and price a brand new 2-bottom plow.
