Thought I'd post with an old favorite subject line!
Been running a bit rich past few times-plowing the road etc.
Plan to start with new sparkplugs then mess with the carb-adjusting the carb screws dosen't seem to make any differance till I screw them in too far and kill the engine.Carb rebuild time again?
Anyway been chilly-maybe around 0 degrees F at night, just cold enough to make the deer wander into the yard and snuffle around in the bird feeders.Stay warm everybody!

CJ..... ....learn how to adjust yer carb. Both Ford and Marvel/Schebler say to set BOTH the downpointing mainjet and the sidepointing IDLE mixture to 1-turn as a starting point. I set the DOWNpointing mainjet to 1-1/2 turns and LEAVITT!!!

Then adjust the SIDEpointing IDLE MIXTURE for maximum rpms, not smoothest idle, MAX rpms. Understand? The sidepointing idlemixture is BASSAKWARDS, out for lean, IN for ENrich. My idle mixture useually ends up about 3/8 turn..... ...respectfully, Dell
