I have purchased a replacement ram lift arm but am having trouble getting the shaft out of the housing. I have taken the lift arm off one end and the shaft will move about 1.5 inches but then stops. Need to know if there is some keeper that I am missing.

George,i hope you have the lift cover off for this repair? and if you dont BE careful when lifting this cover off why?
1-heavy as a cow
2-there is a long connecting fork with it as it comes up out of case
3-bad move part is that someone did not do there home work and broke the little cast part of the TEE that works your up and down of hyd.
4-post back will help you some more if need be. BOB

The middle part of the rocker shaft is bigger than the ends. You will drive one of the bushing out when you drive the shaft out. I think you are hitting the bushing. Be careful - you can crack the casting.

I assume that the end that receives the ram rod is broken off the rocker. If this is the case then it is not usable anyway so I would cut it length wise down to the shaft to relieve the press fit to the rock shaft. Then it might go on off the shaft.

There is nothing holding it onto the shaft as far as a keeper etc. Probably just a half century accumulation of rust and crud.

The rock shaft bushing will have to come out with the rock shaft since where the rocker sits on the spline is a larger spline than the ones on the ends where the lift arms fit.

If you don't have an exploded diagram of that area, go to dennis-carpenter .com and download the pdf version of his catalog.. it is about 6 megs.... on page 25 of the catalog, there is an exploded parts diagram of that area.
