Lift stops working

I just spent a few minutes reading the past post on lift problems. While I did get some ideas I am still not sure what do do about the lift problems on my '51 8N. Here's the story. The lift was working fine. It made a little noise under load but not too bad. It would drift down with a moderate load in about 1/2 hour. I needed a front end loader and bought one prom Pearson's in Rogers, MN. It went on fine and according to the indtructions, I chained down the lift arms and attached the Hydralic hose to the test port on the lower right side of the transmission. I started the tractor to test it and everything worked just fine, for about 10 up/down cycles. Then the loader just stopped working. The quadrant lever made no difference in operation. the loader wouldn't go up or down. I disconnected the hose and removed the hold down chain from the lift arms and found that they no longer worked. At this point I figured it was time to rebuild the lift and bought a rebuld kit and a video on how to go about it. Everything went fine and while I was at it I put in a new lift piston for the NNA as suggested in the video. When I started the tractor it took a few seconds but the pump filled the cylinders and everything started working just like new. No noise and no drift. But, after about ten or so up/down cycles it just stopped like before with no response to the lever at all. While I don't look forward to taking it all apart again, at least every thing is clean and familiar. Before I do tear into it, if anyone can suggest quicker, smarter approach I would welcome the advice.
Thanks,
Gary Anderson (not the kicker)

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. I did notice after I rebuilt the lift that the control handle did not have to be moved very far from its bottom position for the loader to come all the way up. So I suspect that I missadjusted something when I had apart or it may have been out of adjustment for along time. The problems seem to have started when I chained down the lift arms after putting the loader on. I may need the adjustment jig and instructions you offer on your web site. I will contact you through there.

Gary,

No insult intended just wanting to make sure you're not overlooking the obvious. Have you checked the fluid level with the FEL attached and the cylinders extended? Maybe the reservoir is running dry??

Thanks for the response. I put in 5 gallons of new fluid from my New Holland dealer. I checked the level and it seems O.K.

Gary,

The N will hold 5 gallon by itself was the bucket and cylinders filled before attachment? What is the capacity of the cylinders?
