Well i just got done adding my smv plaque and rear work light on the NAA.. also added a blinker and 3 small lights ( running lights? )( one red, and 2 amber ) on the corners of the smv emblem.

Now I have decent flashers on the smv emnblem..

I plan on taking it to a few antique car shows this year that meet right down from the house.. figure i will just road it down there... only like 2 miles.

Anyone know what the specific requirements are for road use... just the smv plaque?

thanks

I asked a local law enforcement officer, here in PA, recently about driving my 9N on the public roads. Seems like the following applies:

Unless it is a "real" farm vehicle going to fields owned by the driver, the tractor must have:

Licensed driver.
SMV sign.
4-way flashers.
PA "TRACTOR" license plate (current)
Horn.

If driven at night, suitable lights, headlights and tail lights.

So, unless the tractor is used for ligitmate farm work, it requires just about everything that an automobles require.

Well, I used to drive the 9N down to the local general store to pick up my "LUCKY's". So, I will either have to quit driving the tractor, or, start roll'in my own cigarettes.

Hope this helps. :})

PS: We never got to the issue of liability insurance requirements. Here in PA, proof of financial responsibility is required for a license tag for autos. Somehow, we have a lot of migrant workers who git away with no PAPERWORK, drivers licenses, insurances, etc.

I had to research the same thing last year, for my NAA (though, of course, none
of this is NAA-specific ;). It seems that each US State can have its own
regulations, so you should probably start with your state police. In Maryland's case,
and probably in lots of others, they've adopted an ASAE/ANSI standard (S279).

Of course, you can't read those standards without paying for them, but (fortunately)
Ontario Canada uses the same standard, and has summarized it on a web site:

But check with your state first.

Oh, Maryland police also told me there "might be" additional regulations if I
plan to drive my tractor across state lines, but I haven't needed to do that yet.
