Have to change out the front axle support (cracked and bent). Removed hood and radiator (again!).... Tried to remove the CAP BOLT that holds the pivot pin...but will not come out! (Must be stripped). Does the CAP BOLT screw into the axle support?

Also, how do I remove the pivot pin? Don't have an engine crank like the TO-4 shows?

If you happen to have an old bushhog blade bolt lying around it will do wonders for removing your pin from the bolster(cradle that holds front axle). On my Jubilee I had no luck driving the old pin out because I only have two hands to hold drift and hammer. Even after heating with a torch it was a no-go. The blade bolt slide down into the hollow pin and held itself in place while the shoulder that the blade spins on was perfect size to catch the axle support pin. Now you can stand up and really swing that hammer to break the axle support pin loose. It only gives you about 3/4" of driving but once you get it moving it should slide on out with drift and one-handed hammering.

Like Dell said, you will have to remove the front-end to hammer it out from the rear.

Cal..... ...since you MUST remove your front axle support to replace it, you can "drive" your front axle kingpin out from behind instead of trying to "pull" it with an engine crank caught behind the slot. But if you are having to replace your front axle support, theres a very high probablility that the front axle kingpin is also "bad". SAW that sucker out, be ingenious. New kingpin $25..... ....respectfully, Dell,

Who suggests that most of your restoration questions could have been answered by your very own copy of the N-Ford Master Parts Catalog ($17 cheap)

Thanks Dell for the advice and the mention of the $ 17.00 catalog. Hope I have not asked too many questions. This was my first restoration.
