I've been thinking about this all day.
Since I saw the news about the junk that landed all over Texas.
You know, Most of the astronauts come back to be debriefed.
Instead of coming back to be Debris.

The only thing more disgusting than your sick humor is the way the media loves this kind of tragedy . It never ceases to amaze me how quickly the networks scramble to be the first to set up special broadcasts , animations , interviews , etc. . Heck , they would have the berieved families on the TV if they could ! It makes me sick . It's like that Don Henley song "Dirty Laundry" . If you have heard it , you know what I mean .

I also must agree with one of the other posters . We should not forget the other people who give their lives for us . All of our soldiers who protect our freedom .

God bless all of them !

Keep your "humor" to yourself .

Our "bubble-headed bleach-blonde" Coleen Williams, news anchor(?) at Ch4 Los Angeles reads, "7 astronauts were killed...7 men and 2 women". Okay, I can do the math..... ...DUH!

Trash sells... Tis a pity.

Kudos to all who brave their lives for a good cause!!!

Something that I have found in the past is that the news only picks to honor those that make their ratings or their sales go up. I fell for those that were lost in the space shuttle. I have personally lost friends in our chosen line of work. If something happens to me or my friends, and as long as our friends and family remember then thats good enough for me. I personally don't care if anything ever makes it into the paper. Our local papers, The Commercial Appeal, cant get the color of the sky right so I rank them right up there with the Enquirer and other supermarket tabloids.

Just my $.02 worth.

Why didn't the news media pay so much attention to the marines that died in the helicopter crash in Afganistan last week?

Every life lost of a good person is just as important! It is sad they pick and chose who to honor with the lost of it. The soldiers are doing a dangerous job also and need there reconition. Mark H.

Okay Gents,
I stand chastised.
I guess I should know by now that we don't all share the same sense of "gallows" humor.
So to all those whose sensibilities I've offended,
especially to those who responded in a reasoned way, I offer my apology.
And to those who responded with invective and slander I offer my most heartfelt apology.
Since I obviously offended them much more than the rest.
Post as you will. But this is the last I shall say on this subject.
I am sorry,
Jerry

Jerry,

Humor is a double edged sword. Timing is everything too.

It may have been best not to post it, but you did ask too. Problem is, you asked and did at the same time.

So it is, I don't think you have a shallow heart or meant to be slanderous to any or all here and elsewhere.

We all learn and our own visible and public mistakes sting more than learnging from someone elses mistakes.

Don't be shy around here after this. My 2 cents worth.

Richard

I have posted messages and ten seconds later I have said I wish I had that one back, too late and we have all had to take our turn in the barrell. I agree with Richard, while not the most tasteful thing I have read, I have read other posts by you and have never detected any mean spirited intentions. Buckeye

Yes, I believe it is still too early for jokes as we need time to mourn the loss.

However, I know that as the days go on we will use jokes to console ourselves and bring normality back to our lives. They become part of the healing process of the country. When Challenger went down, it was about a week after that some jokes started. It helped us to remember and yet still have a smile on our face to go on...

It was a little early, but I bet you will see this one coming from somewhere again...

I don't think there will ever be a time appropriate to joke about this

Over 100 flights
Over 700 million (estimated) miles logged
Only 14 flight related fatalities (as tragic as that is)

Wish our highways were that safe.

You are genuinely low-life slime. The real shame is that is always good folks who die too young.

the only joke i see is you.while you are saying a prayer for those who perished and their famalies, aske the man to forgive those who must go through life careing only for themselves and the attention they get. PS. to the green beret.from one vetran to another(usmc)we have learned to over look those certain others who call themselves careing and forgiveing but who have no clue as to what it really means to be a real american.

WAY too early- You know my background, as a Green Beret- during that time of the Apollo or Gemini flights (don't remember which- it was 35+ years ago)- I was once on an astronaut recovery team for possible touchdown in South America, back in the days when capsules always (thankfully) landed in the ocean. Every flight had contingency plans for touchdown wherever; We were fitted for tree-jumper suits- extremely thick canvas coveralls for jumping into dense SA forest canopies two hundred feet above ground.... Best to cool the jets, and remember today's losses. Pray for those we lost, and especially for our troops that are charged with the responsibility of defending our freedom, like I know we both did years ago.
