Has anyone had any experience with the rubber grommet for the sherman shifter lever.. I got one from Just 8n's.. Is a tight fit to install, and evern tighter fit to shift.. Does it take a while to break in.. Have been using in direct position due to problem getting in far enough to shift to high or low.. Does it need to be trimmed? Thanks

Put a couple of drops of brake fluid on it that will soften up the rubber on it. Mark H.

Watch how much you use it can remove paint too! Just a drop or 2 on the shaft going through the bushing. Mark H.

I just put a little lube on mine and then it was fine.

I did lube mine installing it.. Problem is grommet restricts the shift lever from going in far enough to engage.. Possibly I don't have the grommet in far enough.. Surely no moisture will get thru them! John

I think you have a combination Sherman. I suspect most of the repondents are speaking from experience with the much more common Sherman Step-Up. Perhaps the supplied grommet does not work well with the in/out motion needed for the combo, even though it works fine with the rotational motion needed for the step-up.
