Lift stays up

When engaged, lift goes up and and stays up no matter where the touch control lever is positioned. Pulled right side cover and drained oil. If I push on the control arm, (thru the right side opening) toward the rear, the rocker and valves seem to move in and out ok. The problem seems like it might be coming from above but I'm not sure what to look for because I've never seen a working one.
Thanks for any help.

If the lift will not come down at all it is possible that the rocker has broken and stuck or the piston limiting pin is not making proper contact with the piston when it reaches it's maximum position and the piston is trying to come out of the bore of the ram cylinder and getting cocked.

Remove the top cover and inspect everything. Most problems are obvious once you give it the eyeball test.

Thanks for your response. The lift goes up when you engage the PTO but stays up no matter where the touch control is positioned. When you disengege it, the lift will slowly drift down.
The touch control is not moving the rocker/valves but I can reach in there and move it by hand.

I had problems with my 9N when I would had the lift in the uptmost position and it would not come down. After a period of time something left loose and it came down with a bang.
I drained all the oil out the bottom, flushed the case out several times with 5 gallons of kerosene and left it dry out.
Put new oil in and it has worked ok since. Must have gotten dirt in the valve or something.
