My Brother came over the other day. He had borrowed my chain saw. I had told him to just put it in the garage. He did and while he was in there he was bragging to his Son about my Jubilee. So he thought he would show his son how easy it started and how smooth it ran. So he hit the Key. Nothing but a grunt. He couldn't believe it. ( I couldn't believe it.)

It turned out that somebody left the Key turned on. Since I'm the only one that uses it regularly I have to take the Blame.

Well with a New set of Points and Condencer. And a set of plugs Just for good measure. She's good to go.

Next time my Brother comes over, She will be ready.

Jess - When I park either of my two 8N's for the night, I've got into the habit of turning off the gas AND disconnecting the battery cable (I leave the terminal bolt loose). Two reasons for doing this: Both my tractors are 12V conversions with single-wire alternators, and there's a slight power drain when they're sitting. I've read explanations for that here which I don't understand, but it doesn't matter anyway - I just disconnect the cable and save my battery charge, it only takes 5 seconds.

Second reason, I've often got grandkids around the tractor barn. With the battery disconnected, they're not going to start anything, leave my headlights on, or make it jump in gear. Also, I saw one of the little darlin's poking around my solenoid terminals with a crescent wrench the other day in a way that would have shorted the battery and burned something out (anybody want a six-year-old?).

It's just a suggestion, but I'm sure you can see why I like to just pull the battery cable when the tractor is parked. Happy Thanksgiving! - Sam

Maybe you should take the key out of her.
