Hey Folks
I know that skid shoes were discussed recently, but I was going to use the limiter chains that I have. Should I deep-six that idea and go with skid shoes? My driveway has gravel layed in track so that I have a center hump.

Mike,

Limiter chains would not allow the blade to 'float' when needed--over bumps and dips, backing up, etc. I put a set of shoes on last year, and have not been sorry.

Hmmm...I think that either way may have an advantage/disadvantage depending on your circumstances. The limiter chains would do the job just fine, unless you have a drive with a hill in it. I have a steep drive, and I think with limiter chains the blade would be allowed to dig in when the front of the tractor leveled out at the road and the blade was still on the slope. Vice versa, if the front of the tractor started down the slope from a level area, the blade would lift up because of the limiter chains. But, if you have a level driveway, I think that limiter chains would also work just fine. I wonder what some of the experts on this most excellent board will say...

I'm at work. Had to work 12 hours on Sat. and now another 12 hours today. At least it pays for my N and other toys.
