Morning All!
I have had my 8n now for about 3 months. I am just now getting it rigged for mowing and grading.I am having a ball! A couple of weeks ago I noticed an oil leak coming from around the axle on the right side dripping down on the inside of the tire. One of those I'll worry about later type leaks. Now I beleive it has stopped!! I cleaned up the rim and tire and haven't seen any sign of a leak since. Is it normal for axle the seals to leak a little anyway ? Any comments on this little problem would be appreciated.
Thanks, D.Brookins in Atoka.

If all 5 gallons of hydraulic / transmission oil were put in the oil level will be just to the level of the wheel bearings. If the seals are leaky a cup or two can come out before the oil level is below that of the seals - then there is no more leak until the next hydraulic / transmission oil change (unless you hold back a couple of cups to keep the brakes dry). How large of a concern this should be is pretty much up to you. I personally would fix the leak cause I like the concept of oil at the outer extremities.

Thanks Paul, it makes sense now if the tractor is working on a tilt to that side the oil runs out of the seal.Sitting in the barn on the level it stops after a while. Do you know if you tighten the hub rings on the outside of the rims that could possibly stop the leak ?
Thanks for the reply !
