I would like to know if I could convert a 2N to have the brake pedals both on the same side like an 8N. Have any of you done it? Do the 8N pedals fit on a 2N?

Thanks

I had this idea a minute ago and did this little simple drawing on my paint program to sorta demonstrate. If I had a 9N I'd try to fabricate one just for the heck of it.

I would use something like about 1/2" X 3" for the arc over the flange between the transmission and the lift-differential housings. I would let it be close enough to the flange that it would slide on it close the top on the left side and on the bottom of the right side so as not to bend much. I would clamp it to the left brake shaft so it could be removed for repair work to the transmission or live etc. I would make the left pedal come about 5 or 6 inches behind the right brake pedal so that one or both could be applied.

Don't laugh! They used to think man couldn't go to the moon! (My mother never did believe that one) :>)

Doc, Anything is possible, but it's going to be more work than it's worth. You would need all the 8N parts for the brake pedals plus the clutch pedal assembly and linkage, plus have to drill the case and put in bushings for the the new cross shaft. Might be better to trade up for a nice 8N. I don't know if the 8n pedals fit the 9n brake cross shafts. It would be allot of work and expense, in my opinion. Good luck!!

At one time there was supposed to have been a kit which moved the left brake pedal to the right side much like an 8N. I don't know if it was made by Ford or by some other company. I seem to remember seeing at least one 9N set up that way. In case you were wondering I heard about this kit from a 70 year old man who still sells blue tractors today.
