I purchased an 8n tractor which was really put through it's paces. The former owner took out the sleeves and had the walls boared out then put in larger pistons and rings which eventually scorched the walls. When I rebuilt the block I put in original sleeves and pistons which I should have realized that there was too much play from the walls being punched out. The tractor ran great for approxamately one year, now there is a knock when it is running with smoke coming fron the oil fill pipe. I am assuming that one of the sleeves got loose and is lifting a small amount with the pistons going up and down.--Any advice will be appreciated at this time.-Thanks in advance for any help and have a nice christmas, Don

If the engine originally had steele sleeves in it, and it was not bored out beyond the diamter for CI sleeves, then you are in luck. Howsomever, if it already had CI (Cast Iron) sleeves and he bored it larger then I think you are SOL....
Happy Motoring
