2N with confusing Sherman Combo

Hello all. I have a question about what I think is a backwards minded Sherman Step up Step down. The reason I say backwards minded is because it shifts exactly 180 degrees opposite of the diagram. Shifter against the housing it will shift forward. Pull to neutral and pull away from housing & it will shift forward and backwards. When pulled out and forward it roars VERY loud. Is the a such thing as a copy cat aux trans or did someone make a weird and terrible mistake and reassemble it using a mirror? Oh, and I ve been using it in one working range for 9 years. Ready to fix it. Thanks in advance y all.

Good afternoon: I am not very expert on the auxiliary transmissions, but I do know there was a Hupp unit made that would let the tractor operate normally, or could be shifted to an overdrive position. Nothing like a creeper gear on the model I had. Sherman made some that worked similarly, just normal or overdrive. Other Shermans had both overdrive and underdrive (creeper). Other folks will probably chime in here with more info.

Not much help for nanate here but I
think...
The Hupps had the shifter handle on the
right side of the tractor.
I know that in addition to the 2 speed and
3 speed transmissions Sherman also offered
a reversing transmission. Handy when doing
a lot of back and forth loader work or on
tractors that had been converted to rear
mounted forklifts.
Prior to about 1957 Shermans were a dealer
or owner installed option. After that they
could be ordered with one installed from
the factory.
Ford continued to offer the 3 speed Sherman
on 4 speed models all the way up till about
1969 or so.
After that they did away with the 4 speeds
and only offered the 6 and 8 speed gear
shift and Select O Speed transmissions.

Here is a link to a video I did. You can see the Sherman Combo shifter (dogleg) and hear the noise in one of the ranges. I think the step up range. [http://exposuretime.com/2N-Sherman.MOV]

That doesn't look like I attached the link correctly but if you copy and paste it you'll be able to view or download.

For starters, Combo cant be
shifted out then down without
breaking something. Weak spot is
the tip on the dog point screw for
the conventional gear. Likely it
sheared off.
Suggest study the info in this
link before tearing into it.

Soaked, were you able to watch the video?

If you saw the video you can probably understand why I'm wondering what is wrong with it. Everything I see about it shows that it is the Sherman Combo step up/ step down, but it shifts backwards. It does shift forward when pulled out. In fact when it is pulled out you can see that it shifts into 2 ranges. One when shifted forward and one when shifted backwards. Then pushed in it will only shift forward. Which is opposite of what it should be. I guess my only option is to split the tractor and tear down the trans to see what happened. If I do this I'll document every step in case one other person in the earth has this problem.

I dont see an obvious scenario
with combo parts, that gives your
shift patern. Shifing two ranges
when pulling out requires a fork
grabing the rear high low collar,
and still have the notch for the
shift finger facing the middle.
Swapping wont do it unless grind
new notch.
Not seeing a way to put gears in
backward either.
Look forward to hear you findings.
