Quote: CVPost-Leroy (quoted from post at 12:51:45 01/31/23) What you are describing is normal for a new tractor direct from the factory. The Lift piston cannot seal tight enough to keep oil from leaking past. The tractors I have had all do that, 41 9N, 44 @N bought new, NAA, Ferguson TO-30. even the 65 and 68 Ford 4000 and 68 5000

Leaking down so fast position control on an 8N can't correct is not normal and indicates a very large leak somewhere.

I did not say anything about full throttle but just a bit. So explaine to me how the 8N was so different in not needing anything above an idle when the 9N, 2N, NAA, TO039 , 65 4000, 68 4000 and 68 5000 all did reqyire a bit of throttle. And I have had all these tractors and still have the 9N and the 2N bought new in may of 44. So what is so much different in the 8N that it can do at idle what none of the others could do. I am talking about a 50-75 RPM difference.

I don't see anything about leaking down so fast. New piston and rings might or might not help.
