Engine running and died like a light bulb burned out.
Had previously jury-rigged a wire in the distributor so decided to get a new one. Came with warning not to open cap or warranty would be
void. Review by customer stated that they are already timed and ready to go. Still won't run. No spark.

The way it died sounds like it may be the coil. Voltage at coil is 6.35 and 2.3 depending on points. Internally may be the problem

ore testing is in order....don't jump to conclusions on things just because they are unknown to you.

Which side of the coil are the voltages measured? If input side, you have a bad battery or switch connection. If points side the points need cleaned.

He said he's getting voltage (6V system) at the coil and it varies as the motor turns/points open close (I think).

We still don't know which tractor he has or whats been done to distributor.

ith those voltage readings, it makes a big difference whether it is his 2N or NAA.

Tractor is a 2N with front mount

Reading taken at top connection on coil.

Battery is good - turns engine over.

Distributor is new as described - nothing done to it

.3 seems a tad low, but if on long enough to heat the resistor, may be ok. Try a[u:7c319c6a2b] momentary [/u:7c319c6a2b] jumper across the resistor to see if it will start
