Trying To Figure Close To The Run Number Group Of This 9

I think it is a late 39 or 40. Maybe you folks can come up with what spread of months this could have been built. Don't miss those grease zerts, I sure didn't.

OR better yet direct me to a post of group of post where features were discussed serial number to serial number. My search results weren't that educational.

Thanks'

Starter button by the shifter. Aluminum dash. Grease zerks on the front of the front axle. 1940 with an 8N engine swap.

You might want to see if there is a number stamped on the top rear collar of the transmission. If there is it
could get you within 2 or 3 hundred of the original motor serial number.

here is a five digit number here. 19686 look's to be a few months into the 1940 year production. Good enough to satisfy my curiosity.
Thanks'

HiYa Chris-
Is this a FUNK 6? 8N hood and doglegs and modified dash extension. 9N/2N Hoods never had the FORD script logo stamped on side. Hood & doglegs are 8N. 8N Hood also
should have the air cleaner intake vent on RH side by dash. You have a Mutt, but nothing to be ashamed of, so if you want to buy, consider this: Stare is WRONG and
where the side mount GEN should be. DIST WRONG, cobbled, in wrong place as well. First, how do you know block is a 51? A 51 8N would have the Angle (Side) Mount
distributor. If DIST is a front mount, it isnt a 51. Also, made sure the ALT stayed on this side Ns never used an ALT and only the early 8Ns with the front
mount had the GEN on the RH side. Looks like PO fabbed the ALT to the RH side as GEN and Oil Filter HSG are on RH side where a side mount would go. GOVERNORS never
used a Zerk grease fitting. In 43 FORD added an oil line to the GOV. This has the 8N 2-Arm GOV. ALL N serial numbers used the hand stamps in one place only near the
oil filter & head. Any odd numbers would be a casting number, and some had the Date Codes. Look at the LH block near starter pocket for block casting ID Tag. The
hydraulic pump should have a Date Code Tag on bottom too. You dont say, but I dont see the POSITION CONTROL lever so it has the 9N/2N 3-SPD. Need good pictures of
behind the dash, mostly the lower steering box. 9N/2N never had running boards. 9N/2N pedals.

I see riveted rear hubs; I-Beam Rad Rods; ALT means nothing to me; Carb is a Cheena knock-off; ALUM parts are std on early 9N & strg early 9N; Dash is wrong key
switch NOT original, it is in the spot where the Ignition ON red lamp was; on RH next to key switch is the plug where the Light Switch was to go lights were
optional accessories, never factory installed features; Hydraulic Oil Dipstick on lower shifter cover early 9N feature; front rims & tires non-original should be 4 x
19; seat and spring not FORD original; RH fender bolt busted out of trumpet how did that happen?; STRG holes are for the battery hold down straps; Start Pushbutton
on shifter cover a later 9N move; If shifter lever has a 5/8 dia screw on ball, it is an early 9N; Key Switch was on RH Dash early 9N, later moved to LH STRG column
and never on lower LH dash; I dont see the Key Switch on RH Dash nor the Start Pushbutton on LH dash or any sins it was; The Start Pushbuttons were different 9N had
two, early and late, and the 8N is completely different; Steering Wheel was a 4-Spoke unit on early 9N; Extra hood bolts near door not OEM irrelevant ; Fenders not
double ribbed, after 1940; a 2N Pressurized RAD and CAP. UNITED Air Cleaner w/THRU hood pipe so 9N/2N. FEL and Back Hoe, your call if you buy. My advice: Pass.

he video show the 8N block and the brackets. I reasoned that all the early front components swapped over to the newer block. That is how I would have done it if possible.

After a few hours of running the 40 I decided against swapping the Funk engine to it. The leg room on a standard N with the loader doesn't cut it for me. I'll just swap the loader over to the Funk.

Was the grease zerts governor an aftermarket design?

would say that the zert was a convenient 'plug' for the governor oil line connection that is missing.
