radiator fit

I'm trying to find the proper sized radiator for the 8N we have been restoring. The radiator on the tractor has 2N/D on the tank. It didn't fit right so the previous owner chopped up the hood. We got a new shroud and it is to wide for the radiator. The existing radiator is 16 inches wide and the shroud is 16 3/4 inched wide. We are probably going to get a new radiator. But we don't want to shell out a lot of money and end up with a wrong size radiator. Does anyone know the dimensions for the radiator. Or recommend a good spot to find the correct radiator
.

My recent experience replacing a radiator was with an 860 but may apply here. Purchased a "restoration quality" radiator from Dennis Carpenter. The original shroud, like yours was slightly too wide. Made it work with longer screws and was able to snug it down. Have about 20 hours of brush hoggin" on it this summer and the tractor temperature has remained normal despite the air temps being above normal.

Your milage may vary,
Jim

New RADS have been prone to misfitting so depends on where you buy from. The 2N RAD and the 8N radiator will interchange as far as I know so that isn't your problem. Same with the fan shroud. Do you have the correct bolts and pads underneath? Optional: Wing Attack Plan R is to find an OEM used RAD on ebay and have it rebuilt at a local RAD shop then install on your 8N.

We decided to go with a new radiator. Hes got so much parts and money into the tractor it doesnt pay to put in banged up radiator. I called a tech at where we are getting the radiator. He assured me it will fit as he said theyve sold about 1500 of them last year . He said I could send it back if it didnt fit. I found a pretty good hood a couple weeks ago while on vacation to replace the one that was originally on the tractor. It was in pretty rough shape. Once we get the radiator and some new dog legs for the hood we should be able to get the tractor started finally. It started out as just some engine work to stop it from smoking. Its turned into quite a project.
