uner the 8N hood questions

Hello All,
1. Battery tray: I saw a nice post of a battery cover with decals. The description though mentions a hole/slot for a flat cable. The YT parts guy
did not know the answer to this. I have round cables, each is 16 inches long. I liked the look of this cover, but is that how the originals were
made? And do you know if my round cables would fit? Or if I like the cover, I need to get replacement flat cables?
2. Fan shroud: I've read posts of needing one or not and concluded I would get one as my '49 that I bought did not have it. Do I have to dismount the
radiator to install the shroud?
3. Radiator neck pad: I did not have one of these. The FO4 book sort of shows that this is like a solid rubber pad, but replacements looks like a
loose fiber pad. I guess it is what it is.
4. Air cleaner behind-the-door screen. Should I buy the one YT sells, or could I use my gutter screen which is a very fine mesh? I do not at this
time have that outside glass container.
5. I have brush painted my fenders and wheels. I have the hood, doglegs, grill to go. I was thinking of buying the spray cans from YT to paint the
grill, doglegs and light fixtures. How many cans would you estimate I would need for that? (I was mostly thinking of the spray because I thought it
would be easier, but mostly since I thought I might not have enough of my gallon left. Maybe I should paint the hood and see how much I have left first
and then decide.

thank you everyone. carl

1. Unless you have a 6v battery w/ the oem positive strap and 0 gauge negative cable, the oem battery cover will NOT fit w/o modification.

2. No, but you will need to remove the fan.

3. Use a thick green scrubby

4. Your gutter screen is probably ok as long as its not too fine.

5. Dont know. Ive always used a gun.

Thanks Bruce.
If I did remove the radiator - would let me paint the fan easier I would think, then that would work too, right? I think I'm nervous of removing the fan as too close to radiator and possibly damaging it. But I'll look at it.

I do have the 6V battery with positive ground, but I do not know if it is OEM or not and if 0 gauge, so I think I'll skip the cover and get the retaining top with bolts. although I don't think I saw just the retaining cover with bolts on YT parts.

Tape a 1/4 inch thick piece of cardboard to the fan side of your radiator(or both sides), that will help protect it. I am at the radiator replacement stage of my rebuild and have had mine in and out several times because the front axle/radiator support is bent and new replacement radiator won't line up correctly. I found a good strait used one though and will be installing a front bumper before this project is finished.

Thank you Jim. I will follow along in case you submit any questions for the forum. Thanks for the good preventative idea of the cardboard. I will do that. My new shroud just came in and I'm not sure how it will actually fit. Hopefully it will become clear when the radiator is off. My radiator seems to abut the axle not allowing the space for the shroud. If you have a shroud, do you know what that 1hole is at the bottom (I think that end is the bottom due to the left side cut-out for the bottom hose)? It doesn't seem like anything goes through it - was wondering if for draft purposes. thanks
