Ran then quit, file line

Ford 8 N side mount, started hard ran then quit, got it started
again after 2 min it quit again, plenty of gas in tank, thought it
may not be getting gas to carb took off gas line, lots of gas
flowing from gas line (now I can't get gas line connected to carb),
it turns really hard afraid of cross threading, after I get gas
line back on what do I check? Also at one point I checked a plug
for spark, there was no spark, I'm lost and need help, got to get
this going to brush hog before deer hunting, anyone in lower Mich
willing to come and help, I will pay you.

The best check for fuel flow is to remove the drain from the bottom of the carb bowl. That will tell if there is a restriction in the carb (plugged screen at the inlet fitting or problem with the needle and seat) as well. Check that once you get the line hooked back up. You should be able to fill a pint jar in a couple minutes from the carb drain. You have the line off so you could pull the inlet fitting out of the carb to check the screen (if it has one), before you hook the line back up.

The inlet on the carb is also a fuel filter. Seeing you having the line off and gas off you should remove it. Clean carefully with a fine brush and put back. In some cases this has been neglected so when you remove you will find it falls apart so you will need to replace. Getting the line fitting to start can be tricky sometimes. It needs to be perfectly aligned and finger start. Also the best way to check fuel flow is to remove the plug at the bottom of the carb bowl. It should fill a pint jar in less than two minutes. This checks fuel flow in complete system.

Sounds like your problem is your lack of spark. Divide and conquer. Check for voltage at the coil, if no check back upstream until you find voltage. That will pinpoint the problem for you.

Showcrop gave good advice on the no spark issue. As for the gas fitting turning hard, try spraying some brake clean or carburetor cleaner around it and then a drop of oil. See it that frees it up.

If Fuel Flow Test passes, stop and leave it alone. If carb needs some tweaking it can wait til you get the electrical system fixed and it is up and running. Fuel line fittings are special thread size:- 7/16-24 UNS. ALWAYS start them by hand! The fuel line, SED BULB to carb fastens in the brass elbow inlet on carb. The fitting with the line sometimes makes starting hard if it gets kinked off kilter but use two hands and guide the line with one while using the other hand to wiggelity a bit to start the threads in elbow. NEXT: Is system 6V/POS GRN or a 12V NEG GRN setup? No spark can be a few things. Incorrect wiring accounts for 99.98% of all non-starting issues. I'm in Lower MICHIGAN, The Thumb, but don't have a local place to hunt now that the farm was sold in 2020. I'll be at The Octagon Barn in Gagetown this weekend. My email is open...maybe we can negotiate a deal...
