masking hood and fender script

I am painting my 51 8N and have seen masks for the script on the fenders and hood. Has anybody used them and is 1 brand better that another? Would you use them and how do they work?

One could also use artist's masking fluid.

Paint the letters, let them dry a day or three, Coat with Desitin. Now paint surrounding area. Another day and wipe off the Desitin.
There are your letters.

My wife used the ones from Dennis Carpenter and they came out really good.

To save anyone else the trouble of looking...Desitin = diaper rash paste. I had no clue.

HiYa Tom-
Lotsa info on this in the archives. Commercial stencil kits are available but some don't quite match up to the original FORD script on fenders and hoods. Ditto with the
vinyl adhesive decals too. Stencils can get messy if not careful. The Vaseline method worked well for many. Mask off the area you don't want painted and only hit the FORD
lettering. When paint dries, remove/wipe off the Vaseline and excess paint. Others use this method with a 2 roller brush to only contact the stamped lettering. And then
there are those that have a steady hand,a lot of patience, and can paint the letters with a brush themselves.
