Oil Filter Canister

This weekend I have been spending time at Pioneer Power show in Le Sueur Minnesota. I of course check out all the Ford tractors to see what I can see. I ran across an early 8N, front distributer, where the owner removed the oil filter and in it's place was the oil pressure gauge. No oil filter on the tractor. I was perplexed, doesn't seem like a good idea. What do you all think?

Very, very bad idea. The original filter was not a FULL flow filter, but had a restriction and small hole to pass a LITTLE oil thru the original filter. The way the tractor mentioned is it may be passing a LOT of oil causing engine internals to starve for oil!

f I owned an engine with an oil filter, I would not delete it. On the other side of the coil many engines have been sold/run/used without an oil filter. Some, where the oil filter was an extra cost option. So it is not the end of the world without one & in this case probably only loaded onto a trailer for shows, he will probably never see any problems as a result of his deletion. I don't know the plumbing details, but as one poster mentioned, I suppose excess bypass could occur, but if so, he surely would notice abnormally low oil pressure & correct it.
