Tsx 33 Weep Hole

Hi there, I am rebuilding my original TSX33 and noticed the weep hole in the bottom has nothing inside of it, I can see right through. I have a 241b that has the screen at the weep hole location. I have also read that the TSX 33 with the tiny hole in it should have felt packed into it. Can anyone assist my in understanding how I'm supposed to fix this, pack it with felt, so dirt doesn't get in yet the overfill can weep out.

I'm attaching a link to a page that shows what mine looks like

Weep port, OEM was made with horsehair; later sintered bronze used. Drain port, 1/8-NPT Plug. Seems there was someplace with a new sintered bronze replacement but I
can't find one now. Carpenter would be the first place to look. I'll keep digging. I also have some 1/8-NPT Drain Plugs if you need any. I can send if so, just tell me
where (email is open) and how many. You say you have a TSX-241 unit. Why don't you just use that? It is the later carb replacing the TSX-33 unit. A 33 and a 241 works
on all 9N/2N/8N's. Option #2 is to just swap out the base half if the drain and weep are intact on the 241. Option #3 is to find a used OEM TSX-33 on eBay and swap out
the lower base half. I may have a bottom half intact I can part with; I'll have to look but my parts are all in storage right now.

The original style weep hole had a but of filter material held in place be a retainer that was like a welch plug with a hole in it. If that plug is still there you can remove it, put some felt or some other type of filter media, then replace the plug and stake it in place. One person used a piece of felt from the dust seal for rear brake drum, another cut up some choke shaft felt backing and stuffed in there. I do not remember what I used on my TSX38 as it has been a few years, but likely the white scotchbrite pad (very fine) you can get where they sell auto paint supplies.

If the welch plug like retainer is missing you may be able to find a welch plug the right size and drill a hole in it, or you may get a sintered bronze plug like the later models had. Just 8Ns has the sintered bronze plug for $9. 9N9694 Years:1939-64 Strainer (Carb. Lower Body Drain)

So, If I understand correctly the brass or copper plug with a hole in it that I can see in the bottom can be removed? It looks as though my rebuild kit does come with a round felt packing that may go in there. I just wasn't sure if I could remove that plug. I didn't want to take it out and destroy it trying to remove it. Any suggestions on how to remove it?

It is just staked in the hole. You should be able to pry it out without too much effort. Don't worry if it is somewhat deformed after removing, you can straighten it back out with a ball peen hammer. BTW mine was/is steel.
