8n Restoration Question - Fuel Tank Padding??

I'm restoring a 1950 Ford 8n tractor and upon disassembling the hood and fuel tank, I saw what looked like a piece of jute padding around the fuel tank. Of course it could have been 30 plus years of dirt and debris packed in there. I wanted to make sure there isn't some kind of padding, cork, or rubber that I need to get for any part of the fuel tank when reinstalling it to the hood.

(quoted from post at 22:34:58 08/19/22) Oem was leather or rubber depending on the
year. Just cut rubber squares out of an
old inner tube.
75 Tips

Do you have pictures of where it was located? I've looked in the Ford parts book online and didn't see anything. Thank you for the 75 tips! Very helpful

Yes, there is a support pad around the radiator fill neck under the hood, p/n 2N-8032, $3.50 typical -SEE LINK BELOW. There are also 2 rubber mounting support/dampeners
that are required when bolting the radiator to the frame. These are p/n 2N-8125, $2.95/pair typical, available at the same supplier listed in LINK. Both of these items
were added when FORD changed to the 4 PSI Pressurized Radiator, p/n 2N-8005. Also, supplier listed has the exact-as-original radiator to front support mounting bolt kit
with 2 OEM special Carriage Bolts, 2 Hex Nuts, and 2 lockwashers; p/n 351641-KIT. A word of caution about the new, aftermarket radiators made today. Some are junk. The
fit is the primary complaint with these. I bought one years ago for my 8N and the new one was a tad too short and the radiator cap barely would lock and tighten and it
was so tight it scraped the hood when it did. The mounting pads can't be altered because there is only so much room to clear the fan shroud. Adjusting the radiator up or
down isn't an option because the fan blade will hit the shroud. My solution was to get a used OEM radiator, have it cleaned and rebuilt, and use it. That was in 2003 and
it's still on the 8N and working fine in 2022.

There is a webbing that is sold on the parts section here that goes between the tank mount flanges and the cross bracing of the hood. That's the only thing I have ever been aware of that goes with the fuel
tank. My '49 does not have it, but if it was an original item it got tossed years ago.
