Any help here on this?
thank you

Many older single acting cylinders, like those on at least some Wagner loaders do not have pistons (oil pressure acts directly on the end of the cylinder rod, so they cannot be made into double acting cylinders.

i guess I will have to pull mine apart. that makes sense from the picture of the cylinder broke down that I seen on line. I guess not worth turning tod town or modifying. I guess I buy new ones . thank you

You will need to replace the cylinders and the valve plus add some new hoses.. Expect to spend something in excess of $700.

The reason the rods in your old cylinders are so large is not for bending strength. Its to get the cross sectional area needed to get lifting force. They do not have a piston so the end of the rod acts as the piston. Double acting cylinders have a piston and they generate the same lifting force with a smaller rod. The smaller rod also provides the space for the oil used to retract the cylinder.

Some of the oil. Minus the rod displacement or "rod differential".

NO - read what I said again. The smaller rod provides the volume needed for [b:1501cfc61b][u:1501cfc61b]ALL[/u:1501cfc61b][/b:1501cfc61b] of the oil used to [b:1501cfc61b][u:1501cfc61b]retract[/u:1501cfc61b][/b:1501cfc61b].
