I do not drain the oil. I put a small pan under the axle when I remove it. There will be a small amount of drainage.

The oil level [b:0ca06b2686][i:0ca06b2686]should be[/i:0ca06b2686][/b:0ca06b2686] below the axle. Often over filled. Sometimes way over filled. Oil, oil & water.

Even if the level is below the axle housings, there will be some residual in the housings. Put a pan under each while pulling the axles.
