Hood & Jar Precleaner Hardware Questions for Restora

Hey guys. I need some clarification on what CORRECT hardware is needed for the reassembly of my Ford 8n once I've gotten it painted. I have the Jar type precleaner and need to know what CORRECT hardware mounts that to the hood. Also, I am a little confused as to what hardware is needed for mounting the hood "doglegs" to the front frame. If you read the listing in the parts book, it lists (2) different size bolts and I assume you use both?? Pictures attached.

Thank you for that literature. That is an awesome piece of info. It says to use the factory hardware and from that picture it looks like "speed nuts" are used . I'm still unclear where they used bolts or screws originally. I pulled out flat head screws and they didn't seem right.

I'm also going to need the rubber seals, glass jar, and wire bail for the precleaner assy.

As for the Dog Leg bolts I think the number 23 bolt is for the dog leg to support and the other number 21 bolt is for the grill to dog leg.

Ok. That makes sense. I really need to get the parts in front of me to understand how they are SUPPOSED to go together. The grill insert also has some kind of quick release peg too.

The CYCLONE AIR PRE-CLEANER was a dealer optional extra accessory, never a factor installed item. In your sketch, you will remove items 1, 4, and 7 to install it. You
keep the 4 screws and use them. Pretty straight forward, cut and dried. Dennis Carpenter makes all the parts for it except the basic housing. All including the glass
jar are exact reproductions. Note there two rubber gaskets required, one goes under the glass jar, and is just a flat rubber band-like sealer. The other gasket goes on
the back outlet to the air cleaner to make the air seal. That one is just a piece if rubber hose cut in a section. It willsie atdard 1/2 Pint Mason jar if you don't
have the Cyclone jar. The Cyclone was first released for the 9N tractor. It is slightly different than the one used on the later 8N and then there was one for the NAA
tractor. The tractor air cleaners were all different so how they mount is what changes. Units will not interchange, but some parts like the glass jar, bail, and
gaskets do. I have a nice OEM/NOS 9N Unit for sale including the instruction manual. Look in YT ADS forum. Emil is open.

Guys,

I'm finally getting to this and almost ready to reassemble. I see that #14 bolts/screws are used here and mine had sheetmetal screws in it. Can I not just get new speed nut clips that fit 1/4" hardware since #14 size hardware is obsolete?

220, 221- whatever it takes.

iirc, one of my doglegs is attached to the hood with zip-ties. you might say i'm not a purist ;)
