What's Wrong With My 8N?

Been sitting out in the weather for nearly two months with 8-month-old gas in the tank, and when I went out yesterday to fire it up in prep for next weekend's [u:589517f3a9]tractor show[/u:589517f3a9] ... [b:589517f3a9]it started right up![/b:589517f3a9]

There must be something wrong!! :p

Just need to give it a good wash, and it'll be ready to go.

I have a good runner that's not been ran in 7/8 years about a year ago I thought I would at the least run it when I opened the fuel door I must have left the cap off it looked nasty in the tank so I walked away from it.

I have another decent runner that's not been started in 18 years if you have the time stop by lets see how your luck is holding out : )

Both are under a shed if that helps... I keep saying I am gonna give one of'em to my SIL knowing I am going to have to do the grunt work... : ( As faith will have it a 70 ford 2000 with all the bells and whistles just happen to show up and went to the front of the line so as its always been the new bull gets all the attention.

Fuel is important but ELECTRIC SYSTEM is equally as important. Ethanol gets blamed for many non-starting issues but no power is the usual suspect. I've had gas in my
(6V/POS GRN) 8N for 2 years that looked like Mississippi River mud and it started right up. WHY? PM. I keep my batteries on float chargers; my BATTERY TENDER JR units
are connected when tractor is idle so a full charge is ready when needed. Annual tuneup and standard PM also required.

I agree with all that, but the sad reality is that my tractor doesn't get an annual tuneup (maybe once every five years?), the (6V) battery is [i:980033ef7c]at least[/i:980033ef7c] 7 years old and doesn't sit on a float charger, and the tractor's had to sit out in the weather since I retired nearly three years ago (although I'm nearly done enough with my shop to be able to park it under cover by this Winter).

I did have to charge the battery prior to our last church picnic, but it's held up fine since then, obviously!
