I have a '50 8N, ser# 339xxx. 6V positive ground. Side mount distributor. I'm working on getting it started, but it has an intermittent spark. I'm tracing from the battery forward:
Battery: 6.4 v standing
5.7 v when I engage the starter.
Coil: New
6V coil
Wired batt. to minus, plus to distributor.
1.2 ohms primary
8.4K ohms secondary
plus terminal reads 6.4 v (points open) to ? closed.
I've never had a resistor in this system before when it was running fine. Should I have one in the above setup? Why or why not?
Thx, ol' poke
