I am reinstalling my top lid. i was just wondering if I could Thread a small pipe in the oil inlet hole. just maybe 1/4 inch to help seal the oil flow in the seal??? Any thoughts???

papstractor , Are you talking where the pressure pipe meets the top cover with the top cover gasket between them.

YES.. so that the gasket seats better and not holding all the pressure

papstractor , If a new heavy gasket won;t seal without any sealant .A better fix would be to mill a grove in the top cover and housing at the hydraulic oil pressure pipe to install a O ring to seal the cover up.

that's a great idea.. Thanks for your input...

You might want to look at the wall thickness in that area before you get in too deep. Leaks in that junction are not a common problem. You will also have the thickness of the gasket to deal with. That will leave that section of the oring without any backup/squeeze.
