piston sleeves

(quoted from post at 13:45:29 05/18/22) Anyone have problems with piston sleeves after a rebuild be they cast or steal.
It has been since 06 or so with no problems with the steel ones. Knock on wood!

Hey Den a friend is rebuilding a 8N engine. The parts guy told him you real dont
want to buy piston sleeves they are failing. He is not a forum member and Not
buying from our host. It maybe a bad batch. The ones here may be fine.

L.B, , Most all replacement selves are cast iron.I doubt very much if you could even find any old new stock steel selves now days.New cast iron selves and pistons installed correctly and pistons and rings clearanced correctly will last for many years to come.

No problems on ones I put in 2 years ago in my 1946 2N. Runs like a champ. Just need to clean up the carb a bit to get rid of some intermittent sputtering. I put appx 50hrs/yr on mine. Snow removal, mowing and people hauling.
