Is this generator correct?

1940 9n has this 2 brush (I checked) 3 wire generator. Before
I rebuild , does this even belong on a 9n? Generator needs
bushing, bearing, brushes, and field coil re-wrapped. Tractor
has no lights, just needs to keep the battery happy. Thanks

"does this even belong on a 9n? " I think not. However, with proper regulator, it likely can be made to work for you.

Get it rebuilt at an old school starter/generator shop and get them to supply a regulator. The builder will know what type will work. The old Fords had a 6v+g generator,so a regulator from one of these should work if a 9n regulator is not available.

Thomasthetankengin , With all of that wrong with that generator,I would buy a rebuilt/used or new 9N generator for your tractor.
