Anyone ever see a setup like this before on an 8N? First time for me.

Its a check/lock valve designed to run a FEL off the test port. You use the 3pt lever to extend the SA cylinders on the loader and then move the 3pt lever back to the mid-point. The valve locks the cylinders at that point to hold the load. When you move the 3pt lever to the full down position it depresses the spring loaded stem which opens the check valve inside allowing the loader to lower.

Thanks for the information!! That explains
why it looks like it hasn't been used in a
long time. I'm 6 foot tall and I was
standing up straight when I took those
pictures. The tractor is on aftermarket
stilts for like a highboy sprayer setup and
was used for a tow line irrigation setup!

Its been so long since I had one apart I don't remember the details of the porting. Many years ago I tried to replicate one - I'll see if I can find my experiment and refresh my memory.

Its a fairly common item so I decided to try and find the source. Turns out it was made by Ferguson for use with the L-UO-20 hydraulic manure loader. N tractor club has the loader manual wgich contains a page describing "theory of operation". Here is an image from that page showing the circuits.
