Wear on spark advance slots

In the process of rebuilding the distributor on my NAA to replace the bushing (6V, side-mount) and during inspection I noticed wear on both spark advance slots. Does this wear necessitate a replacement?

I would definitely replace. Putting that back in will negate the "rebuild"

Looks like the weights could get hung up there

Definitely something going on there that caused that wear, the shaft shows stress at the bushing area. It appears that there is a spring missing from the visible side of the weights too. My recent problem
similar to yours was that I could find no parts except the shaft bushing so I had to weld up the slots, make new springs from some feeler gages and even weld up the pins on the weights that were no longer
round. works great but spent over 1/2 a day on it.

Yeah, parts availability was a concern, thus why I was getting input from the collective. Looks like a new distributor is $150 here so I think I'll go that route. Thanks for the input everyone.

I'd take that apart and fill the wear spots in with braze/brass, then file it back to original profile. Check the tangs that run in the slots too.

If you have torches and files/dremel shouldn't take more than an hour.

Just saw gaspumps post. Same idea here. The feeler gauges are an interesting "McGuyver" fix for the springs!
