Dylan Berhorst, As Dean said all N models, except the early 9Ns with the straight cut transmission gears. It will also fit the 53 Jubilee 54 Naa,Nan and the hundereds series. The clutch disk may have to be changed because of different splines in the hub.Maybe even in the 2000,3000,4000 with a clutch change .but not quite sure on them.Maybe someone knows for sure?

Depends which sherman. The combo will fit all 4 speeds up to the X01 series with serial numbers before 14257. The sherman step up or step down will fit nicely up to the 8n after that some adapting would have to be made to the handle because of the position of the bump out on the bellhousing. It's not impossible but not worth it to add a step up IMO. After the 14256 number you could change out the input shaft and nose cone on the sherman combo to make it work on later series tractors. As far as changing out the clutch disc to earlier course spline you would also have to change out the flywheel. The X01 used a wider flywheel this is why the left brake rod was relocated to under the rear center housing because of no room in the bellhousing. Also the earlier engine plate would have to used to make up for the differences in the trans case and input shaft length. Unless you have all parts on hand I would stay away from tiring to switch out the clutch disc. Any one would sez just change the clutch disc has never done one before

I should add It will not fit the 9n with straight cut gears unless the mating gear in the main trans has been changed out to helical gear which will require a double split. Probably the hardest this on that whole job was getting those dam detent balls back in.

Good afternoon, Dylan: Interesting thread; Just as comment, I have a 9N with a Sherman overdrive, not underdrive. It works ok, but for my purpose (finish mower) I have no use for an overdrive. I have tried the tractor on our blacktop road, in 3rd gear (a 9N only has 3 gears), if I put the Sherman in high, and try a full throttle run, it scares me. The tractor is not suited for that high of speed. So mine is just a novelty, something to talk about at a tractor show.
