The guy who I bought my 8N from called me and said he found some spare parts in the garage that he believes are from the Ford. So I went there and pick them up. I was happy there was a Vee-Bar in the there. But I need some info on how to correctly connect it. Also it looks like it's missing one J bolt on one of the arms. Should I be able to get them locally?

Good luck finding anything close locally! I think Dennis Carpenter has them.
The local consignment auction had a V bar last week. I put a reasonable max bid on it & opened it at $1 - & thanks to the high school girls who take the pics & label things ("brace") there were no more bids. I picked it up & found it had both of the original J bolts!

I'm should take a photo of it but I think the one I have on it looks more like new style J bolt. It's all shiny.

It all depends on how "original" you want it. The original have a very sharp square bend so they fit tight on the lift arms & are fine thread. I have another one w/hardware store J-bolts that work ok but "kind of" fit & are not as strong because I could not find any w/as large diameter.

The DEARBORN VEE-BAR was an optional FORD dealer accessory and required all the OEM additions, the 9N-5182 11-Hole Drawbar; and STAY BARS with the WARNING SAFETY LOCKOUT
BADGE. It used two special 'J-HOOKS' with 5/8-18 Threaded ends and lockwashers with 5/8-18 Hex Nuts. As stated, Red Rock Manufacturing, Pella, IA, repops the J-Bolts
exact as original. The correct setup is as I pictured on my 8N and stated.

A year ago I sold most of my OEM FORD TRACTOR parts and had about a half dozen J-Bolts and 2 or 3 VEE-BARS. Here is the link to RED ROCK MFG as they repop the DEARBORN
VEE-BAR complete and just the J-BOLTS too as well as other Ford Tractor parts.

I sent him an email because I cannot add multiple items to the cart and don't want to pay shipping 3 times. Emails keep bouncing back. I called coupe of times and no answer.

Here is a picture of my V bar hitch.

I would think you could make a J bolt from a piece of all thread and some serious heat.

Search this company, they reproduce some hard to find items. I think they have V-bars and mounting components.

Finally got a pic of what I think is an original J Bolt. Note (if you can from the poor quality pic!) the sharp square bend, the fine threads, & the oversize burr that takes 1 1/16" wrench.

I can make them easy. Are they 5/8" bolts?

So some images show the v bar mounted on top and some on bottom. Common sense tells me it doesn't matter. Is it?
