I went to the Books Steam-up here in Oregon this last weekend and saw a every nicely restored 1939 9N serial #211.
Don't know if this is someone from this sites tractor but would like to say I was impressed with how original it is.

I saw that tractor also. Did you notice the tiny generator? I'd like to know if that is original. The ones I've seen were a 6-volt 3-brush with a cutout.

HCooke, Yes the sign says it has a cast aluminum hood and grill.
It is SN#241.Owner Randy Sierk?

That is the generator that would have come on the tractor from the factory.
They are hard to find, I've been looking for one.

This is a real close OEM Restoration, better than most I have seen in the past ten years or so as far as all original early 9N components. Before we start just want to note that the fire extinguisher was never an item on any Ford and the STAY BARS are missing the SAFETY WARNING BADGE and LOCKOUT. Best to get one ASAP so you don't damage the 3-PT. Also, the GREENE ENG'G Drawbar Lock wasn't an aftermarket item til the 8N but not a biggie. I will also list some of the correct major early items so the wrong info doesn't get out there. The first early 9N Generator was the 9N-10000-A that was a 7-AMP, 'B' Circuit Design, small barrel, 2-Wire/2-Brush Unit that also used the 9N-10505-A Voltage Regulator -NOT THE CUTOUT, won't work. On OCT 10,1939 the 9N-10000-B GEN was released and it was now a 1-Wire/3-Brush 'A' Circuit Design, still 7-A, and had a HI-LO Slider Button for the 3rd Brush Adjustment on the rear panel. At the same time Ford released the 9N-10505-B, round-can, Cutout Circuit, and this was used til the end of 2N Production in 1947. The VR won't work with the 9N-B GEN and the 9N-B Cutout won't work with the 9N-A GEN. The 9N-C GEN came later with 11 AMPs and a 3rd Brush Screw adjustment. With 2N-10000, the unit was virtually the same but now had a Belt Tensioner Device attached to the barrel. At the same time Ford released a kit to add the tensioner to the 9N-C GEN only -did not work on the two early models. The 8N used an 11 then 20 AMP unit with A circuit design but then the NAA and after used the B Circuit Design with a VR. Actually, if you have a rare early 9N-A GEN and need the rare VR, you can use the NAA FAG10505 Voltage Regulator but will have to modify the mounting. Lighting kits were dealer options and no 9N or 2N ever had factory running boards so glad he kept those details intact. The OEM early 9N shifter knob was a screw-on steel, chromed part but the one shown here is not original. You can tell by the size of the ball; the OEM ball was 5/8 diameter. There were four different pulleys for the early 9N & 2N GENS as Ford Tractor was constantly trying to get the system charging issues under control. You can find a document I wrote years ago on the early 9N Generators that was pirated and posted on the other Ford N Tractor site in the How-To's/Electrical forum or email me if'N ya wanna know more. Here is my list of most of the early 9N parts for anyone donga restoration. early 9N parts are hard to find. the 4-Sple Steering wheel and the aluminum horizontal bar grille are the only ones made nowadays as reproductions and they are both very good. I wouldn't take points off for those two repops at all.

Tim,

Item 17 you say Adjustable LH 3-PT Lift Arm (first 300/400 units only) do you mean the fact that the rod is threaded on one end?

This one was and my serial number 4044 also has it.

Gary (Or)

Is the left 3pt rod threaded on your tractor as shown in the show tractor. My 546 has that so I think 300/400 is wrong if that's what he is talking about.
