Auction 9N (not mine)

Smooth hub on one side, rivited on other meand the fragil smooth hub axle broke and was replaced with a newer axle. Smooth hubs were only on firtst year or two. Don't mean a mutt, only an axle had to be replaced due to breakage.

I am not sure but I am thinking that they broke at end of axle where the hub was formed onto the axle. Used to read about that but have not seen anything for years. Used to be common to see a tractor with both kinds of axles. Think it was a forging problem.

Roger - exactly the same (dipstick / Aluminum) as my early '40 9N (SN: 13030).
