Means nothing anyway. One of the misconceptions of Ford Tractors is the HOURS METER on the PROOFMETER. It doesn't register real time actual hours. The OEM Owner/Operator's Manuals detail how it works. Contrary to beliefs of some, The PROOFMETER is not an electrical device; it is a mechanical device. PROOFMETERS were prone to failing after a time. When I look at a tractor with a Proofmeter, I simply glance it for a few seconds and will ignore whatever it reads.

I wonder why a tractor with only 172 hours and barn kept its entire life would have needed to have all four tires replaced and a repaint already?

That unpainted drawbar shows the Fords real condition. Caveat Emptor

The seller is the 3rd owner. He KNOWS that 172 hours is the meter and not the tractor, and it would be hard for him to not know how deceptive his ad is.

I see that the ad has been changed and reference to hours has been removed.

That's good! I had sent him an email about it.

My 1954 NAA has had 3400 hrs on it for over 20-25 years now although it is used regularly every year for 50 to 100 hrs.
