New tractor splitting stand!

Now I KNOW I'm getting old! I used so many extra blocks, stands, etc, etc, etc, on my last split that I decided to buy a splitting stand. But anything I could afford had a minimum height of 14.6" & all my tractors are closer to the ground than that, especially the 2110 Low Center of Gravity (9"!). After several plans I finally decided on this one:

Any thoughts (good or bad) on my design? I'm ALMOST wishing I had a split coming soon!

I think if a guy was splitting tractors all the time a splitting stand may be great, but for occasional splits a stand takes up alot of space. I like the idea that either Hobo or The Old Hokie has of using trailer jacks with a wheel bolted to the tractor halves for a split.

Outstanding! If you documented your procedure and put in a D-I-Y document, you could upload to the HOW-TO's Forum at the other Ford N Tractor web site. Member and good friend Steve Dabrowski made his own dolly engine stand when he was restoring his early 9N and early 8N.

I like it but as said, I wouldn't want to
give up the shop space to store it. Same
reason I don't own an engine stand.
I trust it is better built than the one
below. Tractor is one of those that were
donated by Ford to various high schools and
VoTechs around the country.
High school kids built this stand. When I
slowly and gently rolled it off my trailer
it collapsed into a pile of scrap and the
tractor fell on the floor. Lol
I would still give the kids an A for effort
tho. :)

Thanks guys! I still have a little bit of fine tuning to do, but think it will work very well. My last split was the 2110 & I had a LOT of problems getting it back together. This should make it so alignment stays correct.
As to storage, the 2 stands take very little floor space "meshed" together, & the floor frame will stand on end.

If I owned one I wouldn't be worried about storage space. I suspect the 9N I use as a dressmaker's form for fitting parts would be a permanent occupant and I would have to evict it if I had a tractor to fix

Tim What a mess of all thread and wheels under the pan that does nothing and still have to use a cherry picker to keep the engine from falling over and separate it.Plus all the storage space it takes up.what a joke.

Cool project. The enjoyment comes from the building and designing. Send a picture once you get the tractor split and on the stand. I am always looking for a reason to practice my welding skills!

You can get driveway gate wheels that roll on the 90 degree edge of angle iron . For gates I usually use 1" angle welded to 1/4" x 4" flat stock . 1/8" would work good too . You could mount the track to the concrete floor and remove the carts when not in use , and still be able to use that space for other tasks . Could be used with a jack system to pick up the front of a truck to do brakes , as an example . Might be handy doing rear axle seals , oil changes , etc . I use nail in lead / zinc anchors so there are no studs sticking up for a cleaner look .

The ebay post shows the wheels . King Metals sells the wheels for $10 each . I have built a few things over the years that did not work as intended . I added to them or started again fresh , either way I pay my own bills .
