Valve Guide Seals

Its time for me to bite the bullet. I need to replace the valve guide seals on my 52 8N. I have always been lucky that other then a oil pump replacement all repairs have been on the outside of the tractor. How is it done.

I suppose one could say that such is an "external" repair but you will need to remove the cylinder head, manifold, tappet covers, and intake valves and guides.

Why do you believe that the valve seals need replacement?

I'm with Dean here, and am also wondering how how you have determined the guide seals need to be replaced?

The seals on the exhaust guides are not really needed in the first place.

If the engine has been in service a while, most likely the guides are gunked/varnished/stuck in place and the seals are not leaking.

ONE reason I could see is if the seals had been forgotten by the last assembler.

What's "The Rest of the Story" here?
