I thought folks would enjoy this picture of our Frosty Ford. We had nearly a month of ice fog here in Central Minnesota, along with delightfully unseasonably warm weather. We're paying the price now, though. We haven't seen a daytime high above zero for a week and the forecast is equally bleak for the coming week.

Yup.......that iron looks coooold!

Take your seat pad inside and keep it warm, and bring it out just before you climb on board. Less heat to suck out of ya when you go out plowing.

Still wondering if there'd be a market for an electrically heated seat pad for this sort of occasion.....

We are not in much better off position, but our problem is the amount of snow we are getting and the temps keep dropping lower early in the eve. and through the night!!!
Be safe, and try to stay warm!!!!
(see the updated pix on my 'snowcake' post!!!)

I have posted about this before but...
One time when I went to see Palmer Fossum he had an odd looking aluminum pan seat sitting on top of some junk in the corner that caught my eye. I looked it over and saw it had about a 3/4" hose inlet and outlet on it.
It was a water heated seat. Hook it up to your cooling system and have a warm butt.
I tried to buy it from him but he wouldn't sell it. It was pretty neat tho.
Hi Colin. Glad to see you're staying warm in these arctic temps we're having.

I missed that story, Jerry! I wonder how effective it was.

I'm not minding the cold too much. Seems like the wind has been pretty calm except for earlier this week, which really makes a difference.

Hope all is well your way!

My Dad tells me stories of working at a black spruce logging camp in Minnesota's Northwoods along the Minnesota and Ontario border when my folks were first married in the early 70s. Temperatures would dip well into the -40s* (air temp) and it was so cold that the tractors and skidders would be left to run all night. This is before advanced thermal clothing, winter pack boots, etc. I think men were hardier back then!
