8n Carb adjustment

About two weeks ago we had 5 inches of snow in central Texas. I heard it was coming and I hooked up my back blade and pushed snow around like I was living in the Midwest or other snowy climates. I was mostly just messing around.

Anyhow, I do have a question for you fellows who live in states that get warm or hot in the summer and can get cold in the winter. I.E. Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, etc. The question is, how much do you adjust the main needle from the summer to the winter? 1/4 turn, 1/8? I was "working" at 32* and had to adjust from my warm setting for the tractor to run right. Honestly, I doubt I ever plow snow again around here, but it was fun and the carburetor adjustment question presented itself to me for the first time since 99% of the time the tractor works in temperatures at or above 60* and normally 75* or greater.

Thanks.

Common to have to run a little richer in cold weather. How much? As much as the engine needs to run at full power.

I bump some of my gassers around 1/2 -- 3/4 turn more open on the main jet. Others don't have an adjustable main jet and still seem to run good enough.

Yall got a lot more snow than we did. I work in La Grange and they got a couple inches, maybe a little more accumulation in low spots. I live in Lavaca County, it just drizzled. We did get snow for about 2 minutes. Kid saw it out the window and went all ape $#!+. By time he got warm clothes on and out the door, it had turned to sleet, then back to rain. He was pretty bummed over it.

I live in Central Wi. Usually adjust 1/4-1/2 turn. Once it starts getting cold it will tell you to adjust due to running lean. Once it gets warm I forget about leaning it out until I am standing behind it while running and can smell the rich exhaust and dial it back. I suppose you could just leave it rich and it will run year around but whats the fun with that.
