has anyone had leaks with the adapter? i have. the leak happens between the engine block and backing plate. it seems like the backing plate comes to a knife edge ,too narrow to block seeping oil between plate and rubber gasket. the gasket supplied with the kit is very thin.
the gasket is not displaced. the block area which receives the gasket was cleaned very well.

any ideas ? any place where i can get a thicker, firmer gasket? the outer diameter is 5". ive tried a cardboard gasket with permatex high tack sealer whic reduced leak but no eliminated.

Jerry,

Same here with my brand new, 80 year old, 9N (#13030). I've been reading like mad and learning a metric ton's worth of 'stuff' back in the archives. That info is as timeless and useful as it was way back in 1940.

I put a spin on adapter on my NAA years ago. It has never leaked. However, mine didn't look like some after market adapter but looked more like a used plate that had been removed from an engine.
